The Amiga gaming scene has had a remarkably active northern summer. This Future Retro Fusion roundup collects the major releases, playable demos, conversions, ports, competition results, preservation discoveries, events and significant projects that we could verify from 1 May through 16 August 2026. Small revision-only updates and every individual WHDLoad installer are not all listed, but the major gaming developments are covered below.

04 May AmiGameJam winners announced
The latest AmiGameJam results put Echodrome by PixelPlop in first place, Double Baboon Ninja by DanLabG second, and Cake Rush by hambo3 third.

04 May Return to Blacktooth released
The spiritual successor to Head Over Heels arrived as a new isometric Amiga adventure with more than 300 rooms. It supports Amigas with 512 KB Chip RAM plus 512 KB additional RAM.

06 May THEA1200 moved to December
Retro Games Ltd delayed its full-size A1200 recreation from June to 4 December 2026, citing supply and production pressures while also allowing more time to finish the operating system.

08 May Bomberplanes resurfaced
Bart ter Haar released his 1994 SEUCK Amiga 500 aerial shooter to the public, preserving a teenage homebrew project with hand-made Deluxe Paint graphics and ProTracker audio.

19-28 May ARC4NERD launched and updated
The official game of the Amiga Ruhrpott Convention arrived in boxed and digital form. The Arkanoid-style game includes more than 55 stages and a final boss; version 1.1 followed with gameplay and high-score fixes.

19 May Amiga Ruhrpott Convention highlighted new games
ARC 2026 included Kaiko Games showing the Apidya revival alongside a strong mix of Amiga hardware and software projects.

26 May Rastan Amiga port demo 0.51
A playable 0.51 demo of the Scorpion Engine Amiga conversion of Taito's Rastan appeared for testing.

Late May The Adventure of Node entered public playtesting
The Zelda-like native Amiga action-adventure opened a playable AGA demo requiring 4 MB Fast RAM, with combat, NPC interaction, dungeon exploration and environmental puzzles.

28 May Dungeon Keeper Amiga port beta shown
A developing Dungeon Keeper port was demonstrated on an A1200 with PiStorm32 Lite, adding another ambitious accelerated-Amiga game project to the 2026 scene.

28 May The Settlers II Gold Edition update
The new Amiga version of The Settlers II Gold Edition received an update during the month, continuing work on one of the platform's most notable modern conversions.

30 May Geo's Adventures Prologue released
A project that began in 1998/99 finally became playable. The prologue was built on real Amiga hardware with Backbone, while the planned trilogy is moving to Scorpion Engine.

JUNE 2026
02-07 Jun Ghosts'n Goblins AGA reached final release
JOTD completed an enhanced AGA conversion with all seven levels in 64 colours, arcade-oriented gameplay, PAL/NTSC support, new music and a CD32 build. Follow-up fixes enabled the startup menu and corrected level selection.

06 Jun The Adventure of Node demo updated
The public demo received fixes for audio balance, restart state, variables, map guidance and a bad spawn point while work continued beyond the demo quest.

07 Jun Metro Siege smashed its crowdfunding target
BitBeamCannon's 16-bit beat-em-up for Amiga, Neo Geo and PC raised more than twice its required amount at the time of reporting, with the Amiga build intended to finish first.

07 Jun WHDLoad game support continued expanding
New and improved installers included Roguecraft DX, Superfrog, Overdrive, Deluxe Galaga, Stunt Car Racer Unleashed and Ruff n Tumble, keeping classic titles convenient on hard-drive systems.

16 Jun Galaga conversion received a major 2026 update
JOTD's arcade conversion received further optimisation work, including performance improvements aimed at A500-class hardware.

16-29 Jun GloomReforged AGA became a serious modernised Gloom build
The refreshed Gloom engine added mouse and keyboard controls, dithering, selectable view distances, FOV control, improved effects and broader game compatibility. By 29 June it had already advanced to version 1.4.

23 Jun Apidya' Special dated for August
The modern revival of the 1992 Amiga shoot-em-up was set for 25 August on PC and current consoles, with modern widescreen and original-style 4:3 presentation, co-op and Chris Huelsbeck music.

26 Jun Commando AGA announced by JOTD
JOTD began an AGA-focused arcade conversion of Capcom's Commando as a practical test bed for his Z80-to-68000 translation tools. The first public material was explicitly early-stage.

03 Jul Mort & Phil reached release-ready status
Amiga Factory's RedPill adaptation of the Spanish comic duo was finalised for AGA systems, with plans to publish development material and source assets as well.

The Spanish demoscene party published six Amiga game entries, showing how productive game competitions remain for the platform.

04 Jul Worms: The Director's Cut expansion announced

18-21 Jul GloomReforged kept moving rapidly
The project progressed through later builds with P96-related modes, FPS display options, widescreen and display refinements; Amiga-News was reporting version 1.8 by 21 July.

18 Jul Neo Turbo Challenge AGA showed Lotus-style ambition
The work-in-progress racing project targets fast classic-Amiga play and has been presented as a modern homage to the Lotus school of racers.

19 Jul Operation Backstab announced
A split-screen competitive game inspired by the Spy vs Spy tradition emerged with a planned 2027 release and Chris Huelsbeck involvement.

20-28 Jul OpenTTD for AmigaOS 3.x advanced extremely quickly
The 68k port moved from early playable AGA builds to version 0.5 with Picasso96/RTG support. Later July reporting tracked it into a 1.0.0 milestone with multiplayer work, making it one of the most striking ports of the period.

22 Jul Prey engine for AmigaOS 4 approached completion
HunoPPC demonstrated the Prey engine port and opened pre-orders for a limited physical DVD edition that requires the original PC game data.

25 Jul Mega M.I.L.V. showed stock-A1200 bullet-hell performance
GoldenCode's work-in-progress shooter demonstrated simultaneous two-player action, hundreds of projectiles and 304x256 PAL 50 Hz output on a stock Amiga 1200.

The month also brought continued Castlevania AGA work, an AmigaOS 4 Plants vs Zombies port, Crimsonland for AmigaOS 4 and preservation coverage for previously lost or unfinished games.

01-31 Aug AMIGAugust 2026 is running all month
The Twitch-based Amiga month links streamers through raids and includes an optional game challenge competition. Streams cover games, demos, game development, music and real hardware.

07-08 Aug Kickstart UK Amiga Expo 3 returned to Derby
The UK Amiga show took place across 7 and 8 August, giving the current scene another major meeting point during an unusually active gaming summer.

08 Aug Worms: The Director's Cut 1.5 expansion released free
The Team17-approved expansion finally arrived for the Amiga-exclusive Director's Cut. It contains more than 40 custom levels, around 50 new voice sample packs, new teams and terrain types, and works through emulation as well as original-compatible setups.

10 Aug THEA1200 first UK wave gets a ZZAP! special
The first UK units are set to include a 36-page full-colour A5 ZZAP! special with reviews, features and an Alien Breed comic. THEA1200 itself remains scheduled for 4 December and includes 25 classic games.

13 Aug target Kaboomania full rollout was scheduled for mid-August
The Bomberman-style project was built first for Amiga 1200 and has been expanding toward a broader multi-platform release. Because storefront status remained inconsistent when this roundup was compiled, treat this as a watch item rather than a confirmed universal launch.
